For Immediate Release
San Diego, CA (USA) — The Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening (SLAS) announced the winners of its annual New Product Awards Monday afternoon at the 9th Annual SLAS International Conference and Exhibition in San Diego, CA, USA.
This year, Bioeletronica (Reno, NV, USA) and V&P Scientific, Inc. (San Diego, CA, USA) were selected as the top winners out of 47 new product entries from around the globe. “Each year we are amazed at the products we see and are eager to recognize the organizations that are going above and beyond in their advancements of life sciences technologies,” said SLAS CEO Vicki Loise.
Biolelectonica’s Hypercell is a cell-sorted analysis system designed to decrease drug discovery workflows from three weeks to one day by using machine learning and “anti-microfluidics” made from flexible PCB boards. Bioelectronica was also a part of the conference’s Innovation AveNEW program, which focuses on start-ups and emerging companies with an exclusive area on the exhibition floor. Based in Reno, NV, USA, they specialize in digital tools that automate and accelerate early-stage drug discovery by addressing the screening bottlenecks in the pharmaceutical industry.
The SpinVessel from V&P Scientific, Inc. mixes particulates without using a stir bar, which helps maintain cell viability and bead integrity, and allows for longer periods of mixing and the elimination of particulate grinding. V&P Scientific, Inc. is based in San Diego, CA, USA and specializes in machining and 3D printing tools for developing drug discovery technologies.
Each year at the SLAS International Conference and Exhibition, the New Product Award is given to up to three companies showcasing new products that are commercially available within 90 days pre- and post-conference. Products are evaluated by a judging panel both online and onsite at the companies’ booths. Winning products are granted use of the New Product Award designation for a year and the award is promoted through SLAS.
