The Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening (SLAS) is proud to be a valued community for more than 16,000 life sciences discovery and technology professionals from across the globe, including scientists, innovators, researchers, academics and students, engineers, informatics specialists, and business leaders. Our mission is to bring together researchers in academia, industry and government to advance life sciences discovery and technology via education, knowledge exchange and global collaboration.
In 2012 SLAS took its first steps toward a concerted effort to grow its community in Europe. At that time a business strategy plan was developed by MCI Brussels to guide SLAS in this new growth effort. Since that time, MCI has provided administrative and meetings logistics support to SLAS in Europe and was a valued contributor to SLAS establishing a footprint in the region.
Since officially launching Europe regional efforts in 2013, SLAS has held nearly a dozen symposia and small meetings, supported other like-minded organizations in Europe and executed two Europe conferences/exhibitions. Our community in Europe continues to grow and currently represents 25% of SLAS’s premier members and 20% of the entire SLAS community. With a target of 30% of the entire community by 2021, we continue to invest in this region. With this in mind, we are making a shift in how those resources are allocated.
SLAS is seeking up to three individuals, located throughout Europe, to serve as Ambassadors for the Society’s regional activities. These European Ambassadors will be SLAS’s representatives and initial introduction to other organizations and events. Ambassador responsibilities are to:
This work will be on a contract basis, renewable on an annual basis. Ambassadors will not be employees of SLAS or receive any employment benefits.
