On the Road with SLAS CEO

About this Blog

This blog chronicles my travels as CEO of SLAS, a global professional society dedicated to advancing life sciences discovery and technology. In addition to getting to know me better on a personal level, my goal for this blog is to shine a spotlight on SLAS members and their unique stories and experiences. Opinions expressed within this blog are mine (Vicki Loise) and do not represent those of the Society. And yes, our lawyer told me to include that.

Volunteer! We've Made It Easy

If you have been thinking about becoming more involved in SLAS, now is the time to make it happen! We are looking for dedicated SLAS members who are willing to give of their time and talents, in ways big and small.

I invite you to take a look at our new online Volunteer Center to see how our new Governance structure, which we announced in February, has taken shape. The Volunteer Center is your place to find out what volunteer opportunities are available and where you best fit in SLAS’s governance. You can read through the charters – all recently reviewed, revised and rewritten — see who is on a committee and, most importantly, fill out a brief Volunteer Form to indicate your desire to volunteer. We’ve made it easy for you to find the right match for your available time, interests and expertise.

Bringing on volunteers is a critical part of the governance transition. All members of the old governing bodies were given the first option to let us know where they want to serve in the new structure. Now, we are opening this opportunity to everyone in the SLAS Community. Check out the Volunteer Center now and submit a volunteer form.

This Call for Volunteers will remain open until May 25. Starting in July we’ll have an open call for volunteers for the Europe Scientific Program Committee. This was intentionally scheduled to happen after the Europe Conference so as not to disrupt all the fantastic work that is going on to make that event a success!

There will be open calls for committees in the future, but never will we have such a diverse set of options for you. Visit the Volunteer Center now and scroll through the many ways you can get more involved in SLAS! We couldn’t do it without you!
